Anders Ebbeson Obituary
Ebbeson, Anders
Mar. 16, 1945 - Nov. 19, 2013
Born Sven Anders Axel Ebbeson on March 16, 1945 in Halmstad, Sweden, our beloved husband, brother, father and friend went to be with our Lord and Savior on November 19, 2013.
Anders is survived by his adored wife Katherine, dearest daughter Louise, and two brothers, Bengt (married to Eva) and their children Alexander and Gabriella, Clas (married to Ingrid) and their children Susanne Paulsson and husband Stefan, Charlotte Ehnar and husband Mangus. His great nieces include Ebba and Amanda (Paulson), and Ester (Ehnar).
Surviving members of the Harris family include Harriett Griffin Harris, George Walter Harris III with his son Jack McCall Kauss and Fran Harris King (Wes) and their three sons Harrison, Mitch and George. George Walter Harris, Jr., preceded Anders in life eternal.
Anders attended Lund University studying Business Administration and served in the Swedish military before he commenced his extraordinary career as an entrepreneur. As a young salesman for the Ebbeson family corporation, Anders perpetuated a successful business legacy in the United States. From early patented products such as camping beds and outdoor furniture to marine stoves and car safety equipment, the Ebbeson family made their global mark on diverse industries. With a family heritage of inventors, innovators and producers, the distinctive Ebbeson name became notable in the art of negotiation.
Anders also served on many corporate boards in the United States and Sweden, while devoting significant time and energy to philanthropic and humanitarian causes that spanned the globe.
In February 1996, Anders met Katherine Harris on a blind date at the opening night of the Opera "La Forza del Destino" (The Force of Destiny). They were married on December 31, 1996 at the Swedish Church in Paris, with a reception later at the John and Mable Ringling Museum in Sarasota, Florida.
Through their union of love and commitment, Anders and Katherine devoted themselves to Louise Ebbeson, their daughter, who currently resides in Trinidad while she completes a doctorate from the London School of Economics. Anders offered Katherine unwavering support throughout her political career, remaining gracious and steadfast.
Anders and Katherine attended the First Baptist Church of Sarasota located on Main Street. His love of sailing around the world, particularly in the Swedish Archipelagoes, was shared by Katherine, while his passion for golf and travel was superseded only by the hosting of monthly snooker matches.
Hearts are heavy for all who knew Anders, and he will be dearly missed by family, friends and colleagues. Funeral arrangements prepared by Toale Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory. There will be a celebration of life at First Baptist Church of Sarasota on Friday, November 22 at 6:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 23 at 2:00 PM immediately followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Gulf Coast Community Foundation (GCCF).
