Winafred Schoeffler Obituary

Schoeffler, Winafred Nims
Jul. 8, 1930 - Sep. 30, 2014
Winafred Nims Schoeffler, 84, of Siesta Key, FL, died on Sep. 30, 2014. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sat., Oct. 11, 2014 at St. Boniface Church in Siesta Key, FL.
She died suddenly while doing something she loved: playing bridge with friends. She was born in Salida, CO, the daughter of Yale Professor Leslie F. Nims, and Winabeth Stephenson.
Mrs. Schoeffler was a graduate of Radcliffe College, Class of 1951, and took a lifelong interest in education. Before retiring to Siesta Key, she lived in Vienna, VA for 27 years serving in administrative positions at Catholic University in Washington, DC.
An avid bridge player, she competed in several tournaments across the country and taught bridge courses in local clubs and community centers. She was also an inveterate traveler, visiting several European and Latin American countries. She was on a North Baltic cruise in 2000 with her husband of 49 years, Dwight Schoeffler, when he died in Helsinki, Finland. Later, she attended her son's wedding in Vietnam and completed an Around the World itinerary by visiting Paris with a niece.
She survived her husband and three of her five children, Richard, Katherine, and Frederick. She is survived by two sons, William of Cary, NC, and Thomas of Irvine, CA, her sister Nancy Tasi of Port Jefferson, NY, her brother Leslie I. Nims, of Frankfurt, Germany, four grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Boniface Church or the Radcliffe College Fund.

so very sorry to about Winnifred -she was such a sweet, charming lady. We met there thru my sister Doreen. I (Kathy) went on a cruise w/her once w/my sister/bro-i-l. We had just talked to her a few wks ago- we were taking a few days in Feb 2015 & staying w/her. How delighted she was. When she met my husband she said if I hadnt married him, she would have- he was a great handyman for her when Doreen, Bill, Steve & I visited her. I will miss her phone conversations and was really looking forward to staying with her for a few days in Feb. You had an awesome mom, & so intelligent. So sorry for your loss. She will be one of God's angels- no doubt.

Our deepest sympathy to the family of Winafred Schoeffler. whom we loved and admired as we worshiped with her at
St. Boniface each week. We will miss her tender smile and
her stately presence in our church family. We regret that we
will miss her memorial service as we are still at our summer
home in NJ, but we will hold you all up in prayer during this
sad time.
