Walter D. Wanting, 84, of Sarasota, FL, died on Dec. 8, 2015. Funeral arrangements by: National Cremation and Burial Society, Sarasota.
Dale, as he was known to friends, was born in Streator, IL to Blaine and Ruth (Burgess) Wanting. He was married to the former Delores Brock, also from Streator, from 1950 until her death in 2014.
He is survived by a son Stephen (Margaret Mills); a brother James A. Wanting; grandchildren Walter Dale Wanting, II (Diane), Claudia Wanting, Jennifer Robinson, Sarah Robinson and eleven great-grandchildren including Walter Dale Wanting, Jr. (Westie), and Lindsey Wanting both of Sarasota.
In addition to his wife Delores, Dale was preceded in death by a son, James G. Wanting and a grandson James 'Jimmy' Wanting.
Dale managed retail stores throughout the Midwest for 32 years before retiring early to own and operate his own stores in Sarasota and Venice, FL. He was also affiliated with Shriners and Masonic Lodge in both Illinois and Sarasota. Dale is fondly remembered by the fortunate young women and men whom he mentored during his management career.
