KOWALSKI, DANIEL "Don" CHESTER; was born June 1, 1930, in Wyandotte, MI, to Gustave and Helen Kowalski. He passed away after a short illness on November 16, 2012, at his home in Santa Cruz, CA, surrounded by loved ones. "Dan/Don" was raised in Wyandotte and attended Mount Carmel. There he developed a love for crew and rowed for both Mount Carmel and the Wyandotte Boat Club. He attended the University of Michigan
, Hillsdale College and Wayne State University. Dan was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia; and son, William. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; sister, Dorothy (Walter) Wesolowicz; daughters, Susan Rizzuto, Dori Borregard; and son, Timothy (Susan) Kowalski. He will be missed by his eight grandchildren, Karyn (Joe) Kish, Erin (Mike) McMahon, Danielle (Ryan) Atkin, Tricia (Eric) Egan, Mike Kowalski, Alisa Kowalski, and Kortney Borregard; as well as his three great grandchildren. He is also survived by step-daughters, Karen (Paul) Kriscunas and Vicki (Gordon) Fraser and their four children, Paul Allen (Katie), Jessica, Kimmie, and Mark; and great grandson. After graduating from college, Dan spent the first half of his life in Wyandotte and Southgate, with a short stopover in Seattle, WA. In 1972, he moved to California and he spent the last 25 years of his life in Santa Cruz. Dan enjoyed staying in touch with his friends Downriver. Family will receive friends to pay tribute and Celebrate Dan's Life at a Memorial Luncheon on December 16, 2012 from 12 Noon to 3 p.m. at the Epicurean House in Trenton. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Wyandotte Boat Club in memory of Dan Kowalski.
