HUNTER, JACK CHARLTON; age 85; peacefully departed this world on November 30, 2013, while in the presence of his son, Jim. Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Adele (1994); and his wife of 61 years, Phyllis Adele (Mueller). Son of Elmer Hunter, M.D. and Eva Hunter, R.N., Jack was born and raised in the Detroit area with his younger siblings, Ray and Connie. Following Jack and Phyllis' graduation from McKenzie High School in Detroit in 1946, Jack earned his B.S. in Biology from Lake Forest College in Illinois before enlisting to serve his country piloting B-29 aircraft in the U.S. Air Force
during the Korean War
. Jack and Phyllis married in 1952, a few months before Jack's honorable discharge from the military. Jack had a brief stint as a Pharmaceutical Salesman prior to his career in supervision at the Ford Motor Company's Dearborn Assembly Plant. Grosse Ile residents for over 30 years, Jack thoroughly enjoyed living on the water while boating, fishing, and quietly reflecting on the beauty of nature. In 1996, Jack and Phyllis moved to La Quinta, California, where they basked in the warm, bright sunshine for 17 years before returning to their home state and residing at Atria Kinghaven in Riverview (which they loved)! Jack will be greatly missed by his son, Jim; daughter-in-law, Denise; granddaughter, Rachael Kim (Gibraltar); and his many friends. Jack's quick wit and dry sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. As Jack often pointed out when looking at the dates of someone's birth and death, "it's all in the dash." Thanks for keeping us smiling, Jack… 1928-2013.
