Karen Elizabeth Anderson Obituary
ANDERSON, KAREN ELIZABETH; of Ann Arbor, MI; left us unexpectedly on October 31, 2013. Karen was born in Wyandotte, MI on April 15, 1958, the daughter of Ervin and Elizabeth Anderson. She graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1976. She continued her education at The University of Michigan where she received her degree in Journalism. Karen married Gene Jones on December 8, 1996 and he survives. She is also survived by her sister, Lanie (William Hampton) Anderson; her brother, Mark Anderson; nieces, Megan Davis and Lindsay Long; and nephew, Eric Anderson. She leaves behind her precious cats that she loved so much, both at their home in Ann Arbor and at their cottage on Vineyard Lake, Jackson County, MI. Karen was an extremely talented advertising copywriter-a knowledgeable professional, creating copy that was crisp and on target. Always with a smile, always cheerful, always warm and caring, her clients loved her, and she loved them. Travel and cooking were Karen's passions. Her meals would be exquisite, and she was always a gracious hostess. She loved to travel with Gene and planned their trips as well as those with their many friends. They had been to well over 300 destinations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central America and Europe. Karen leaves behind countless friends who will miss her every day. She took great interest in her friends' children, and some considered her their second mother. She taught them style and flavor and inspired and influenced their lives. She was a caring companion to so many. Karen was intelligent and intuitive and had an infectious zest and enthusiasm for life. A Celebration of Karen's Life will be held at Nie Funeral Chapel, 3767 W. Liberty, Ann Arbor, MI on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. with visitation prior to the service from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Karen's name to the Huron Valley Humane Society.
