LOEFFLER, MARK DIXON; age 48; of Washington D.C., formerly of Riverview, passed away peacefully at Washington Hospital Center April 29, 2013. He was paralyzed in a diving accident at the age of 20 but never let his disability hold him back. He received a masters degree from the University of Michigan. He worked for the U.S. Department of Education. He lived independently and was active in Adapt, always working for causes like independent living, health care, transportation, jobs and pride for the disabled. He was the master of three different PAWS service dogs during his life; Buddy, Gilly and finally Ladd, who were his constant companions. He is survived by his mother, Charlene Quiel; step-father, Earnest Quiel; father, Robert Loeffler; sisters, Lori Grimm (Andrew), and Angela Quiel and his beloved niece, Kayleigh Rose Grimm; and many extended family, friends and co-workers. He will be sadly missed. A Funeral Mass will be held for him at St. Cyprian's Church in Riverview, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2 p.m.
