Joseph Llewellyn "Lew" Reich Obituary
REICH, JOSEPH LLEWELLYN "Lew"; age 75; of Eastport; passed away peacefully at home, after a long fight with cancer on Tuesday, April 23, 2013. Lew graduated from Mount Carmel High School, attended Henry Ford Community College, and joined the United States Marine Corps. His life work was as a cement mason and business agent for Local 514, where he was a member for more than 50 years. After retirement in 1997, Lew and his family moved to Torch Lake where he enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, hunting and family visits. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, George and Genevieve Reich of Lincoln Park and his brother, Eugene Barum. Surviving Lew is his wife of almost 50 years, Linda, six children, eight grandchildren, his brother and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and many friends who were an important part of his life. Gratitude is expressed to many caregivers and the Northwest Michigan Hospice of Charlevoix. Lew has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on May 18, 2013 at the Eastport Baptist Church (5910 N. M-88, Eastport MI 49627). Pastor Jerry Troyer will officiate and a luncheon will follow the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the , an Guest House at 129 Jefferson Ave. S. E., Grand Rapids Michigan 49503.
