Mason Charles Grahl Obituary
GRAHL, MASON CHARLES; 92; passed away January 31, 2014. He was born October 3, 1921, in Wyandotte, to Edward Frederick and Mary Elizabeth (Harrington) Grahl. On May 17, 1947, he married Isabelle Bavaird, in Wyandotte; sadly, she preceded him in death in 2010. Mason graduated from Roosevelt High School in January, 1939. He then honorably and proudly served in the US Coast Guard from 1941 to 1946. He worked for BASF for 42 years, retiring in 1984, and was a member of the Wyandotte Chemical Club. Mason was a very active member of the Glenwood United Methodist Church, and also the VFW, Post #1136, Wyandotte. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking. He leaves to cherish the memories: his children, Jo-Ann (Joe) Mead of Brownstown, Mason (Charlene Kreger) Grahl of Montana, and Michael (Donnell) Grahl of Bear Lake, MI; 7 beloved grandchildren and 11 treasured great grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and Herbert; and a sister, Merle. A Memorial Service to commemorate his life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Glenwood United Methodist Church, at 1 p.m.. The family will greet friends starting at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Suzanne Walls will officiate, and inurnment will take place alongside his wife at Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock. Memorial gifts in his name are suggested to the Glenwood United Methodist Church, 2130 Ford Ave., Wyandotte, MI 48192.
