Geraldine Mae Acker

ACKER, GERALDINE MAE; died December 8, 2011, of natural causes. She was 93 years old. Born in Wyandotte, Michigan to Dora and Chris Keehn on May 19, 1918. Predeceased by her late husband, Charles Everett of 62 years; and infant sister, Dorothy. Survived by sister, Thelma Keehn on Trenton, MI; two married children, James (Dr. Janice) Acker of Grosse Ile, MI and Robert (Alison Bleick) Acker of Elgin, IL; grandchildren, Joyce Acker Mueller (Todd) of Ann Arbor, MI, Jonathan Acker of Woodhaven, MI; and great grandchildren, Anna and Leah Mueller. She will be remembered as our pink rose. Geraldine was a gentle, quiet, warm, and delicate person who eagerly met the needs of her family. Mrs. Acker loved the month of December. Her family will always remember her beautifully wrapped gifts, Christmas cookies, absolutely the best turkey dressing, and Rice Imperial dessert. Geraldine was always "in the pink" (fit, healthy, in a good mood) and ready to meet the needs of others. She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church since her birth. Geraldine was a member of the Roosevelt High School Class of 1935. She was awarded her Bachelor of Science degree in 1939 from Michigan State University. Until her marriage in 1941, she worked for Grace Hospital as a home health nutritionist. Following her husband's discharge from the military in 1945, Geraldine was a stay-at-home mom serving her family and community. She was the Wyandotte McKinley School PTA President for several years. In her later years, she enjoyed becoming a "snow bird" and living in Panama City Beach, Florida in the winter. She and her husband were members of the Noah's Ark Senior Club. Visitation Saturday, December 17, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 465 Oak Street Wyandotte. Memorial contributions suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church's Outreach Events. Interment Glen Eden Cemetery, Livonia. Arrangements by R.J. Nixon Funeral Home 734-284-1600.
