Donald "Don" D. Theissen, age 56 of Linn, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia.
Don was born Sept. 26, 1960, in St Louis, a son to the late Donald "Buck" and Donna (Findley) Theissen and Patricia Day.
Don was a 1978 graduate of Hermann High School.
On Sept. 1, 2001, he was united in marriage to Jane Verdot in Linn, Missouri. She survives of the home.
Don was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn, the Linn Lions Club, dual member of Jefferson City and Hermann Eagles Clubs, Jefferson City Elks Lodge 513, Meadow Lake Country Club, the Industrial Supply Association and an advisory board member for the NetPlus Alliance Group.
Don was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing golf, the St. Louis Cardinals, riverboat rides and playing Texas Hold'em Poker.
Don worked as a boat pilot for the Army Corps of Engineers and later retired from the Department of Justice, having worked at MSP Super Max prison in Jefferson City and at prisons in Leavenworth, Kansas. and Greenville, Illinois. where he worked as a senior self-defense director.
He was the owner of Theissen Properties and Excavating, as well as Bar-Poker before finally finding his home as the owner of Jefferson City Auto Parts/Jefferson City Industrial Supply.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by: two sons, Mike (Becky) Theissen of Jefferson City and Dean (Keri) Theissen of Jefferson City; two stepsons, Levi (Kimberly) Hentges of Bonnots Mill, Missouri, and Dylan Hentges of Linn, Missouri; one daughter, Amanda (John) Kempker of Holts Summit, Missouri; one stepdaughter, Amelia (Justin) Hentges of Linn, Missouri;
By one brother, Wes (Becky) Theissen of Ballwin, Missouri; two sisters, Becky (Rick) Kemma of Owensville, Missouri, and Vicky (John) Bax of Jefferson City;
By seven grandchildren, Cole Theissen, Ana Gamboa, Emily Theissen, Allison Theissen, Garrett Hentges, Remington Kempker and Blake Hentges; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and customers.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by two brothers, Doug Theissen on June 27, 2007, and James "Jimbo" Theissen on Sept. 28, 2012; a nephew, Robert Theissen on Dec. 21, 2011, and a granddaughter, Paytonmarie Kempker, on Jan. 22, 2015.
Visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at Morton Chapel in Linn, Missouri. A private family burial will take place at St. George Parish Cemetery in Linn.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. George Church Capital Campaign or to a
charity of the donor's choice.
