James Henry Bates

JAMES HENRY BATES 6/11/1934 - 7/8/2013 James (Jim) Bates, 79, of Bull Head City, AZ, passed away peacefully on July 8 2013 with his wife at his side. He was a loving husband, father and Papa. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved to show them the sites in Las Vegas and Laughlin. He is known fondly by his family for his Stetson hats and big belt buckles. Jim was raised in Florida. He joined the US Marines at a young age and proudly served his country in the Korean War. He lived and worked in the Victor Valley for many years and was employed by Vons in Victorville and Barstow. He spent many of his retirement years traveling the country in his RV with his wife before they settled in Bull Head City, AZ. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by his wife Ella (Starnes) Bates of Bull Head City, AZ; children James Bates, Jr of Hesperia CA, Vicki Bogdanski, and Dennis Bates of Bull Head City, AZ. He is also survived by numerous grand- children and great-grandchildren. Jim was an honest, hard-working man who loved his country. He was a great role model for his children, grand- children and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered lovingly and missed tremendously. As he wished, Jim will be cremated. There will be no services.
