JOHN R MANERS 8/22/1951 - 1/11/2013 John Maners, 61, of Victorville, Ca. passed peacefully in his sleep January 11, 2013 in Joshua Tree, Ca. John experienced a massive cardiac arrest on New Years Eve 2011, while Square Dancing, (which he loved!) at the New Years Eve Dance with the Apple Valley Thunderbirds. John was dancing with his mother, when blocked arteries caused the collapse. Within minutes, wife Waka, club members Sandy & Marianne performed CPR until EMS arrived. John maintained without life support at St. Mary's in Apple Valley for 2 months then to High Desert Sub-acute in Joshua Tree, where he had awesome care until his transition. John was born in Plainfield, Indiana until the family moved to Rubidoux, Ca. when he was 4. He attended Ina Arbuckle & West Riverside Elementary schools. Then Jurupa Jr. High where he went on to Rubidoux Sr. High School. John was on the swim team and broke team records (most set by his brother). John did attend community college and then worked hard his entire life, mostly as a Mechanic, Electrician & then Communication Installations which became a family business. John was a member of the Victor Valley Moose Lodge, The Apple Valley Thunderbirds, & Vice-president of the Sagebrush Shufflers of Hesperia Ca. John started dancing as a teen in grand Terrace, Ca., during high school. He was also an avid RC Boater, appearing on the Outdoor Channel with wife Waka. Born to parents who also square danced, Father, Frank Maners (passed @ 85) and Mother, Mary Phillis Maners 86, & still dancing! Also survived by wife, Waka Maners. John & Waka dated when John was a senior in high school for a few months. Then did not speak for 35 years. Then through class- mates.com were reunited in November 2004 and married February 17, 2005. John is also survived by Older Brother Lynn Maners in Tuscon, AZ, Son Robert Maners in Rialto, Ca. & Daughter Pam Goudge in Bakersfield, Ca. Also Stepsons Christopher Steiger & Michael Steiger in Victorville, Nickolas Steiger & Zachariah Steiger in St. Louis, Mo. 8 Grandchildren, Dog Gili & Bird Lucky! John's wish was to have his organs donated to science. BUT there will be a Big Celebration of life, Dance & Party on June 2, 2013, 6pm-10pm, 16292 Lime St. Hesperia Parks & Recreation Center.
