STEVEN BRUCE GIFFEN

STEVEN BRUCE GIFFEN Steven (Steve) Bruce Giffen, age 43, was recently called home to our Lord. He passed unexpectedly at his parent's home in Victorville. Steve affectionately known as "Giff" to his friends arrived in this world via St Mary's Hospital and has been a strong supporter of the high desert all his life, as were his Great-Grandparents Louis and Anna Maria Weiss, who were early settlers in the high desert. Steve followed in the footsteps of his father and grandmother and taught, coached and served students at Victor Valley High School District for 17 years. He graduated from Victor Valley High School in 1987 and received his degree from Cal State San Bernardino. Steve, being a loving and devoted son, spent many hours helping his mother care for his dad, who was injured in an accident a few years ago. Steve was greatly admired by those who observed his dedication to his father. His love for family was showered on all, especially his niece and four nephews. Being an avid golfer, Steve spent many hours on Silver Lakes Golf Course, where he shot in the low seventies. He enjoyed and was successful in tournament play and was welcome in any foursome. He is survived by his father and mother, Ben & Sandy Giffen of Victorville, sister Stacy (Paul) Ferris of Victorville, grandmother Peggy Sartor of Victorville, grandfather Bruce Giffen of Santa Barbara, nephews David, Jacob, Justin & Mitchell Ferris, a niece Danielle Ferris and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Please join Steve's family on Friday June 29th at 4:00pm for a celebration of Steve's life. It will be held at Desert View Memorial Park, 11478 Amargosa Road, Victorville, CA. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Golf or Soccer Teams at Victor High School. Checks should be written to VHSASB (Victor High School Associated Student Body) and mailed to 16500 Mojave Drive, Victorville, CA 92395. Attn: Chris Douglas. Please note on the memo line of the check: Steve Giffen's Memorial, either Golf Team or Soccer Team or both. Online tributes may be written and viewed at desertviewcares.com
