GERTRUDE GRIEGO 11/27/1925 - 1/8/2014 Gertrude Elisabeth Griego, born on November 27, 1925 in Zweibrucken, Germany, entered into rest with family by her side on January 8, 2014. She had been living with Alzheimer's disease for 24 years and was cared for by her family. Gertrude was an extremely loving, selfless, and nurturing woman who was known and loved by many. She lived in Barstow since 1953 and retired from JC Penney where she was often referred to as, "The Little German Lady." She will be fondly remembered for her beautiful dancing alongside her husband, especially at Big Bear Oktoberfest; for her authentic German and Spanish cooking, which her family loved; as well as being a dedicated Jehovah's Witness for 58 years. Gertrude is survived by her husband of 62 years, Enereo "Ernie" Griego, daughter Sylvia McQueen & husband Kris, son Fred Griego; grandchildren Davina Griego, Jenifer O'Neal & husband Justin, Kamira Griego & fiance Terrance Bryant; three great-grandchildren Tommy, Teddy, and Luna; as well as an extended family in Germany. Services will be held at Mead's Mortuary Tuesday, January 14th at 10:00am followed by burial at Mt. View Cemetery. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Rimrock Villa for their care and support throughout the last 6 years.
