JOHNNY MICHAEL HERRERA 09/29/1954 - 10/06/2013 Surrounded by his loving family, Johnny entered the home of our loving Lord & Savior, in the early morning hours of last Sunday. Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, he was a resident of Barstow for 35 years and attended Kennedy High School here. His employment included Union Pacific Railroad and working in telemarketing. Johnny's favorite sport was soccer, and received great joy from coaching & sharing the sport with his nephews and many other kids in our community. He also enjoyed bow hunting, fishing, and playing music with his guitar & harmonica. Johnny will be remembered for his loving spirit and seeing the beauty (from within) of every person that he had the privilege to meet. He is survived by four sisters Ida L. Saiz (husband Dennis), Clara Baca, Patsy Hileman all of Barstow, and Dee Rodriguez of Richmond, LA; five brothers Ben Herrera, Jack Herrera, Jerry Herrera (wifeÊ Rita) all of Barstow, and Fred Herrera (wife Virginia) of Victorville, CA. and Ted Herrera (wife June) of Cheyenne, WY. and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Manuel P. & Juanita Herrera (Zamora), a sister Rosie Cruz, a brother Leonard Herrera and brother-in-law Salo Baca. A Celebration of Johnny's Life will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 505 East Mountain View in Barstow, on Thursday October 10, 2013. Rosary will be said at 9 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.Ê Arrangements entrusted to Horizon Memorial Services of Barstow.
