HUBER HEIGHTS — Evelyn Anderson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, died Saturday, October 10, 2015. Evelyn was born in Peoria, IL in 1943 to John S. and Caroline (Smith) Grafelman.

She was preceded by her parents and her sister, Rosie Sanders. She is survived by her husband, Fred Anderson, her children and their spouses, Scot and Marcia Anderson, Laura Jett Anderson, Jon and Carolyn Lowry and Jen Lowry and Pete Sutcliffe as well as her grandchildren Bret, Mandy, Cheyenne, Oakes, Hastings, Rebekah, Evan, Kate, Jack and Bryn and many friends.

She received her bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University. She continued her education at Wittenberg University where she studied various forms of Art, including painting, sculpture, charcoal and pastels.

Evelyn was an elementary teacher in Huber Heights at Monticello Elementary and Valley Forge Elementary where she primarily taught fifth grade. She then taught first grade for several years before retiring.

A humble and giving person, Evelyn always had a smile and caring thought for everyone. Her kind heart, thoughtful and easy going nature will be greatly missed. She brought families and friends together and always had time to listen, catch up and help others through hard times. Because of her friendliness and smile she was recognized everywhere she went. She was intellectually curious and an avid player of puzzles and games, often handily winning scrabble and mahjong. She also enjoyed playing cards regularly with her friends. She cherished spending time with her family and watching them grow.
