MARENGO — Fannie M. Bennington, age 75, formerly of Huber Heights, died on September 4, 2015 after an extended illness while living in Bennington Glen nursing home in Marengo, OH. She is survived by a large and loving family: son Robert (Christy) Bennington, daughter Candus (Rob) Bullen, "adopted" daughter Jeanette Whitten; 5 grandchildren - Joshua (Ashley) Bennington, Amber (Will) Keith, Megan Bennington, Staci Bennington and Abby Bennington; 3 great grandchildren - Joshua Bennington, Jr, Nick Bennington and Lilly Bennington. Surviving siblings: Michelle Kuhn, Harold (Mary) Gross, A John (Jeanie) Gross, Clifford (Marilyn) Gross and Keith (Barb) Gross; special friends Hazel Fry and John and Shirley Cox; as well as a host of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Bennington, parents John and Candus Gross, siblings Ollie Gross, Thelma Carter and Cathy Bombac.

Because of her generous heart and great compassion for others, Fannie also leaves a legacy of other "children". She and her husband opened their home to scores of people whether for a night or months, they were there for whomever had need.

Her professional life included a variety of experiences, including time spent in the U.S. Navy (USN). She had a great passion for bowling and spent many years managing bowling alleys and participating in leagues.

Fannie had a dominating personality her entire life, and that vitality will be greatly missed.

The family will be hosting an informal Celebration of Life Gathering at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Faith Community United Methodist Church, 100 Country Club Dr, Xenia, OH 45385. Lunch to follow in the same room.
