Travis Dale Greene Sr. CONNELLY SPRINGS Travis Dale Greene, Sr., 63, of Connelly Springs, passed away Monday Dec. 31, 2012, at Catawba Regional Hospice following a courageous battle with cancer. Travis was born Oct. 5, 1949, in Watauga County, to the late Vonnie and Essie Hendrix Greene. He was a U.S. Army veteran and he served in Vietnam. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and one Bronze Star during his service. Mr. Greene later worked for several building material company's as a salesman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Greene; and one sister, Millie Wilson. Survivors include his wife, Sherry Harwell Greene, of the home; a son, Travis Dale Greene, Jr., of Connelly Springs; a daughter, Tennille Ratliff and husband, Brandon, of Hickory; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Greene and Riley Greene, of Connelly Springs; brothers, Wallace Greene and wife, Mitzi, of Connelly Springs, Harold Greene and wife, Glenda, of Catawba, Carl Greene and wife, Susie, of Connelly Springs, Earl Greene and wife, Suzan, of Long Beach, Cali., and Johnny Greene and wife, Essie, of Connelly Springs; sisters, Verlee Mikeal and husband, Johnny, of Caldwell, Irene Hames, of Hickory, Lucille Span and husband, Carl, of Connelly Springs, Marie Smith and husband, Vertus, of Connelly Springs, and Mary Cantrell and husband, Harold, of Connelly Springs. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held today, (Wednesday, Jan. 2), at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lenoir, with the Rev.
