Charles Ray Bolch HICKORY Charles Ray Bolch, 86, of Hickory, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Lutheran Home Hickory West. Born March 21, 1926, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Jefferson Augustus Bolch and Vera Honey-cutt Bolch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Louise Ezell Bolch; and a brother, Glenn Alfred Bolch. A member of Highland United Methodist Church, Mr. Bolch was veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II and a retired computer programmer analyst. He enjoyed music, particularly big band music and played saxophone with his brothers in their band, Syncopats. Charles was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, who will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by a daughter, Susan Bolch Clark, of Hickory; son, Alan Charles Bolch and wife, Pat of Newton, N.C.; two grandsons: Adam C. Clark and wife, Christy, of Mishawaka, Ind., and Erik A. Bolch, of Hickory; two great-granddaughters, Emma Katelynn Clark and Elena Caroline Clark; a sister, Audrey B. Robeson, of Schertz, Texas; and two brothers, Donald Bolch, of Lewisville, Texas, and Thomas Bolch, of Raleigh. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, at Highland United Methodist Church with Pastor Adam Clark, grandson of Mr. Bolch, officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. Graveside military honors will be performed by American Legion Post 48. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to Highland United Methodist Church, 1020 12th St. Pl., NE, Hickory, NC 28601. Online condolences may be left for the family at bass-smithfuneral home.com.
