Rev. Coye Edward Wilson, Sr. HICKORY On Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, Rev. Coye Edward Wilson, Sr. peacefully transitioned into his eternal life, after a courageously fought battle with Leukemia at his residence under the care of Catawba Regional Hospice. Coye was born June 26, 1933, in Mitchell County, to the late Sam Wilson and Ruth Duncan Wilson. Rev. Wilson was the former pastor of Pilgrim Baptist Church for 26 years; he was also the former pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church and Drowning Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Levan; two brothers, Wayne and Wade Wilson; and two sisters, Roma Holtsclaw and Geneieve Wilson. Coye leaves behind the "love of his life", Martha Jean Fox Wilson. They were married Jan. 14, 1951, and shared 61 wonderful years together. Coye is also survived by a son, Coye Wilson, Jr., of Connelly Springs; two daughters, Patricia Mikeal and Teresa St. John, of Hickory; a son-in-law, Danny Levan; and seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grand-children. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home, with the Revs. Stanley Conger and Johnny Tomblin officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening (Thursday, Nov. 15), from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
