Emily Warren Akins Cabe HICKORY Emily Warren Akins Cabe, 78, of Hickory, passed away, Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born, Nov. 18, 1934, in Buncombe County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Andrew Littleton Warren and Nell Howell Warren. She retired from Lane Venture Furniture Co., Dec. 31, 2001. Emily loved spending time with her grandchildren, and attending all of their activities. In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Cabe; son, Michael Ray Akins; sisters, Lanelle Tweed, Bernydene Shepherd, Sharon Ray; and brother, Tom Warren. She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Huffman and husband, Larry, of the home, Caryn Eller and fianc‚, Phil Williams, of Statesville; son, David Akins and wife, Elizabeth, of Fairview; daughter-in-law, Kathy Akins, of Burlington; grandchildren, Lindsey Akins, of Fairview, Caitlyn and Michelle Akins, of Burlington, Dylan and Bradley Huffman, of the home, and Jordan and Brannon Honeycutt, of Fairview; great-grandchild, Kevin Towe, of Fairview; sisters, Jean McIntosh, Margaret McQueen, and Pat Edwards; brother, Dan Warren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home, Hickory, with the Rev. Scott Hooks officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, Jan. 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Drum Funeral Home, Hickory.
