Myrtle Hollar Obituary

HICKORY - Myrtle Yount Hollar, 93, of Hickory, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 13, 2010, at Brian Center Hickory East. She was born in Catawba County on April 8, 1917, to the late Houston Blalock and Eva Burch Blalock. She was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Hickory. She was a sewer in the textile industry for 45 years, and retired from Hickory Springs. Those left to cherish her memories are three sons, Wayne Yount and wife, Ann, of Gaffney, S.C., Dale Yount and wife, Maryann, of Taylorsville, and Gary Yount and wife, Martha, of Salisbury; five grandchildren, Ashley Millwood and husband, Timmy, of Gaffney, Justin Yount and wife, Jacqueline, of Hudson, Fla., Lauren Reynolds and husband, Jeff, of Columbia, S.C., Patrick Yount of Holly Springs and Sarah Yount of Salisbury; five great-grandchildren, Madison Millwood and Austin Millwood of Gaffney, Jacob Reynolds and Luke Reynolds of Columbia, and Braydon Yount of Hudson, Fla.; as well as a number of nephews and nieces. Other than her parents, those preceding her in death were her husbands, Roy Baxter Yount and Raymond Hollar; two brothers, Ralph Blalock and Avery Blalock; one sister, Macie Shook; and one infant daughter. Visitation for Ms. Hollar will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Service in Taylorsville. The service will follow at 11 a.m. at the Alexander Funeral Service Chapel, with the Rev. David Guelzow officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John's Lutheran Church cemetery in Conover. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley at 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, N.C. 28658. Alexander Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements for the Hollar family. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.alexfuneralservice.com.
