Virl "Steve" Rowe HICKORY Virl "Steve" Rowe, 67, of Hickory, died Wednesday March 13, 2013, at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born Feb. 8, 1946, he was the son of the late Virl Franklin and Catherine Iona Helton Rowe. Previous wife, Martha Yount Rowe; two daughters, Leslie and husband Jody Gantt, of Bluffton, S.C. and Kathy and Tommy Farley, of Taylorsville; a son, Mark Rowe, of Hickory; also a daughter, Stefanie B. Rowe, of Hickory; two sisters, Linda and husband, Rick Stevens, of Mountain View and Janice Rowe, of Hickory; three brothers, Larry and wife, Loye Rowe, of Mountain View, Wayne Rowe, of Bethlehem and Darrell and wife, Delette Rowe, of Sherrills Ford; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Ronda Kelly, of Hickory and Tammy Slape, of Hickory, survive him. His wife, Deborah Pennington; and brother, Virgil Rowe, preceded him in death. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at The Salvation Army Church with Caption Mike Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. prior to service at The Salvation Army Church. Memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
