Robert L Harris, 83, was born on September 11, 1934 in Prattville, MI to Lynn and Alice (Fry) Harris. Bob graduated Waldron High School in 1952, and also received an automotive certificate from JCC in 1994. He worked 37 years at Allied Products before the doors closed and he retired. Other jobs included working for Willy's-Jeep in Toledo, Prattville Grain and Coal and Boeing in Seattle, Washington.
Bob married Delores Fether on October 15, 1955, and she survives. Also surviving are three children, Lori(Tim) Emens, Jason(Angie) Harris, and Angela (Steve) Masters all from Waldron, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Ben (Kassy) Emens, John Emens, Fletcher Masters, Madeline Masters, Trevor Harris, Lincoln Masters and Maverick Masters; one great-granddaughter Hollin Emens and one brother Don Harris of Waldron.
Bob and Delores spent many winters in Zephyrhills, Florida after retirement. They made many new friends that they would visit with even in the summer back in Michigan. They organized many social events for neighbors and friends for those Michigan residents that were wintering in Florida.
Bob was a member of Betzer Community Church where he was humorously the head of the "Old Geezer Committee". In Florida they attended New Hope Baptist Church in Zephyrhills. Bob loved sharing stories of the past and tinkering around the farm shop with his Model T and other projects. He was a crew chief at Butler Motor Speedway for a few years, Bob could fix about anything. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved Fords, pies, chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies, well, any type of cookie except lemon. He always said the "round ones" were his favorite. He enjoyed riding the moped, wearing his beloved flannel shirts and spending time with his grandkids.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, David Harris and a brother in-law Richard Fether.
A funeral service for Robert will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 29, at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with Pastor Kim Repp officiating. Burial will follow at Waldron Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday.
