Russell E. Krauss, Sr. of Hillsdale, Michigan passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Hillsdale Community Health Center.
He was born September 26, 1944 in Hillsdale County, Michigan the son of Leonard and Dorothy (Evers) Krauss.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Krauss, whom he married on April 26, 1983; nine children; 30 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter and two brothers.
Mr. Krauss served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and he was a life member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V. He worked as a police officer for the city of Jackson and also worked as a teacher for the Jackson Area Career Center. He was also an avid wood-worker who made many crafts.
At his request cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in Hillsdale on Friday, January 24th beginning at 1:00 P.M.
