Arlo Earl Lane, 78, of Hudson, passed away Wednesday (1/29/2014) at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

Born October 3, 1935, in Grass Lake, he was the son of Earl and Edna (Weinkauf) Lane and attended Reading Schools. He received eight patents for his invention of air filters and retired as a truck driver from DCA Food Industries in Hillsdale. Arlo was a member of Reading Nazarene Church, an avid fisherman, and collected sports cards. He loved flowers, gardening and his family very much.

On August 27, 1955, he married Florence "Dutch" Speelman and she survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Sherry (Doug) Heath of Camden, Candy (David) Staadt of new Haven, Indiana, and Tammy (Brian) Fix of Pittsford; two sons, Perry (Linda) Lane of Jonesville and Randy (Lisa) Lane of Osseo; one sister, Arlene Billman of Pittsford; two brothers, Arling (Mary) Lane of Reading and Arvin (Jackie) Lane of Hillsdale; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother (Arnold), one sister (Ardis Jones) and brother-in-law (Paul Billman).

Funeral services will be held Sunday, 2:00 PM, at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel, Reading, with Reverend Jerry Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Reading. Visitation is scheduled Saturday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Reading Nazarene Church.
