Audrey Elizabeth (Wallace) Powers Obituary
Former Hillsdale resident Audrey Elizabeth Powers passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Jan. 1, 2014 after a brief illness.

Audrey was born July 31,1932 in Detroit, Mich. to Stanley Wallace and Anne Wallace nee Ohsowski. Prior to graduating from Nursing School with her RN, she was a model for Ford Motor Company and Campell's Soup,among others.

Audrey married Thomas Horrigan in 1954. They had two children before he died in 1956.

While working as a nurse at Oakwood Hospital, she met and married Ward Powers M.D., a widower with six children. After completing his internship in 1966, the combined family moved to Hillsdale, Michigan and began a life together. Another son, Ward Jr. "Chip" was born two years later.

In 1975 they relocated to Naples, Florida where Ward continued his practice and Audrey continued her life's work as homemaker of their "Yours, Mine and Ours" family. Audrey also worked as a realtor until she and Ward retired in 1992. Throughout the years, they devoted themselves to volunteering with their church, tutoring in public school and Habitat for Humanity,among other efforts. They also enjoyed summer retreats in northern Georgia.

She leaves her husband of 47 years, Ward; daughters Laura, Jane, Jorie, Cindy, Carrie and Diane; sons Mark, Matthew, Ward Jr.; 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She passed on, confident in her Christian faith with the hope of meeting her family once again.

A celebration of her life was held at Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church,1225 Piper Blvd., Naples, Fla. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at
1 pm. A graveside memorial will be held at Sunset View Cemetery in Jonesville, Michigan at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Gabriel House in Fort Myers (gabrielhouse.org) and/or Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
