Barbara Grimm Obituary

HILLSDALE - Leta Barbara Grimm, 86, of Hillsdale, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Carelink of Jackson. She was born October 1, 1929 in San Antonio, Texas to Merle and Hazel (Wood) Annis. Barb married Burton Grimm on December 19, 1948 and he preceded her in death on November 12, 2014.

Barb was formerly employed at Buda's Grocery Store and Jack Frost Ice Cream Parlor before she began raising her family. She was an active member of Hillsdale Free Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir, working in the nursery, teaching Sunday school and serving on the funeral dinner committee. She dearly loved spending time with her family, gardening and cooking. Barb will be remembered for her love for others and her positive outlook on life.

Survivors include a daughter, Cindy (Don) Waidely of Hillsdale; daughter-in-law, Linda Grimm of Jackson; four granddaughters Michelle Chajkowski, Angela (Brian) Crosby, Stephanie (Andrew) Steiner and Amanda Waidely; five great-grandchildren, Cameron, Finn, Nash, Lauren and Hannah and two sisters, Jill Reed and Norma Male.

In addition to her husband, Barb was preceded in death by her son, Michael Grimm; two sisters, Beulah Adams and Melba Phillips and two brothers, Melvin and Dave Annis.

Funeral services for Barb Grimm will be Monday, January 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Hillsdale Free Methodist Church with Pastor Keith Porter officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsdale. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
