Billy R. Halstead Obituary

COLDWATER - Billy R. Halstead, 77, of Reading, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Jeff Bream officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.

Billy was born on May 22, 1938 to Raymond and Ida Estelle (McKinley) Halstead in Quincy. He married Marie A. Christy on April 8, 1979 in Jackson.

Billy worked as a machinist for Simpson Industries in Litchfield for 37 years retiring in 2003.

He loved steam engines and tractors and being with his family.

Billy is survived by his wife Marie of Reading; his children, Timothy Halstead of Jackson, Billy Halstead Jr. of Ft. Myers,, Florida, John Halstead of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Robin (Bruce) Greene of Montpelier, Ohio; his step children, Douglas Mann of Groveland, Florida, Daniel (Brenda) Mann of Albion and Renee Mann of Reading; his honorary son Mark (Shirley) Kiersey of Hillsdale; his 28 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; his sister, Jill Seagraves of Coldwater. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Pamela Halstead; his step mother Mildred Smith Halstead; his brothers Jack (May) Halstead, Bob (Bev) Halstead and Max Halstead; his sister Julia (Gordon) Paradine and his brother in law Henry Seagraves.
