Cecelia C. Heffernan 1936-2016

Cecelia C. Heffernan of Hillsdale, Michigan, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016 at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. She was born March 26, 1936 in Ecorse, Michigan the daughter of William and Helen (Kozma) O'Connell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert T. Heffernan and one daughter, Carol Ann Harris. She is survived by three children, Kim Marie (Anthony) James of Hayes, VA, William Robert (Joni) Heffernan of Pittsford, MI and Elizabeth J. (Darrel) Evans of Quincy, MI; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Anne L. O'Connell of Grosse Ile, MI and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Heffernan was the Co-Founder of Heffernan Soft Water Systems and she was a former President of the PTA at Mauck School in Hillsdale. She was a longtime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where she served communion to the "Shut-Ins". Cecelia's attitude toward life made her a joy to be around. She was always ready with a smile and a hug. She enjoyed boating the Great Lakes with her late husband, Robert and loved traveling, dining and dancing. Her and her husband's favorite song was "Me and Bobby McGee" even their boat carried that name. She also loved spending time with the family and understood the importance of family. She also enjoyed being around children and devoted many hours volunteering at Domestic Harmony.

A Funeral Mass to honor the life of Mrs. Cecelia C. Heffernan will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church, at 11 a.m. Saturday with Father David Reamsnyder officiating. Interment will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 2-6 p.m. Friday at the Hampton Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
