Chloey Foust Obituary

HILLSDALE - Chloey E. Foust, age 94, passed away at Drews Country Living in Hillsdale on Saturday, February 27, 2016. She was born January 22, 1922 in Camden Township, Hillsdale County to Harry Kincel and Allie Elsie (Farver) Sowle. A 1940 graduate of Osseo High School, most of her life was spent in Hillsdale County, residing for a short time in the Coldwater area. On October 12, 1940 she married Claren A. Foust in Bryan, Ohio. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1992.

As a homemaker most of her life, she enjoyed gardening and sewing. Having played basketball in high school she maintained an interest in the sport throughout her life. She and Claren enjoyed camping and traveling after retirement. Chloey worked for Hillsdale Manufacturing (old pants factory), Gambles, and the Hillsdale Credit Bureau in Hillsdale, MI as well as Myers Department Store in Hudson, MI. She was a former member of the Pittsford Grange, Pittsford PTA, and the Locust Corners Friendship Club. Interested in genealogy, she traced her family roots back to the Mayflower.

Surviving are daughters, Shirley Petroshus of Adrian, Donna (Michael) Warren of Jerome and Vena Wade of Litchfield; three grandchildren, Chad Petroshus of Littleton, CO, Susan (Fred) Michelin of Mancelona, MI, and Ryan Petroshus of Lancaster, SC; one granddaughter-in-law, Susan Warren of Olathe, KS; six great-grandchildren, Brayden and Gavin Petroshus, Samantha and Michelle Michelin, Mitchell and Bennett Warren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Jeffrey Warren; three sisters, Elsie Spieth, Zelma Schuster, and Mildred Sowle and four brothers, Arthur Kelly, Harold Irving, Kincel Sowle, and Wm. Robert Sowle.

Funeral services for Chloey Foust will be Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at 11 a.m., at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Mark Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Osseo. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
