Donald Shamplo Obituary
Donald Shamplo, 54, of Pittsford, passed away Saturday September 23, 2017, at home under the care of Hospice of Lenawee following a brief illness of cancer. He was born November 16, 1962, in Hudson, to Dean and Effie (Carmean) Shamplo.
Don spent most of his adult life working. A life-long farmer, he also kept a second job through the years, working in various shops including Custom Fit in Pioneer, Waldron Industries, Metalloy Machining in Hudson and Borck's Body Shop in Clayton.
When he wasn't working, Don accumulated a collection of toy tractors and cars, as well as an extensive clock collection. He planted and raised trees and enjoyed playing Keno. However, his real passion was walking the open fields with a metal detector, searching for old coins and civil war relics with his brother Russ.
Don is survived by a son, Clifford (Amanda) Shamplo of Kunkle, OH; a daughter, Crystal Shamplo of Edon, OH; two brothers, Burton (Judy) Shamplo of Waldron, and Russell (Kathy) Shamplo of Pittsford; and seven grandchildren, Clifford, Marshall, Blayden, Dayshia, Braxton, Sebastian and Serenity and special friend Marcia Andrews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clifford Shamplo and Philip Shamplo.
A funeral service for Don will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with Dr. Rev. Samuel E. Wickard officiating. Burial will follow at Waldron Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions in honor of Don can be made to Animal Aid of Branch County or Hospice of Lenawee. Friends can share memories and words of comfort with the family online at www.eaglefuneralhomes.com.
