Donald "D.R." Stevens Obituary
Lt. Donald "D.R." Stevens, 56, of Columbia, South Carolina, formerly of Litchfield, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Parkridge Hospital in Irmo, South Carolina. He was born in Coldwater, Michigan on November 14, 1960 to James W. and Carolyn S. (Runyon) Stevens. On May 31, 1987 he married Susan Southwell and she survives.

Donald graduated from Litchfield High School in 1978 and then went on to receive his Associates Degree of Corrections from Jackson Community College in 2005. He loved Nascar, especially drivers Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt, fishing, hunting and photography. Donald was a Litchfield Auxiliary Police Officer and had been employed for over 20 years at DCA in Hillsdale. He also worked as a Correction Officer at the Department of Juvenile Justice in South Carolina as a Lt..

Surviving besides his wife Susan are his mother Carolyn; daughter, Dana Stevens of Columbia, South Carolina; sisters, Anita (Michael) Knapp of Litchfield, Sandy (Brad) Dow of Litchfield, Robin (Jeff) Gilmore, of Homer and brother, Jimmy Stevens of Litchfield.

Donald was preceded in death by his father and nephew, Ryan Gilmore.

Funeral services for Lt. Donald "D.R." Stevens will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Litchfield with Pastor Michael Murray officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Litchfield. Family will receive friends for visitation from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Suicide Prevention and the American Heart Society.
