Donna J. Nivison (Rumsey) Ayers Obituary
Donna J. Nivison Ayers, 81 of Jonesville, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Covenant Care Home in Reading. She was born November 24, 1936 in Orland, Indiana to Walter and Veva (Rubley) Rumsey. Donna married William Merriman in 1956 and he preceded her in death in 1966. She later married Glen Nivison on July 3, 1969 and he preceded on May 5, 1995. Donna married Larry Ayers on October 19, 1997 and he preceded on April 11, 2017.
Donna graduated from Orland High School in Indiana and she worked as a secretary at DCA in Hillsdale for many years. She was a member of the Jonesville United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Donna also enjoyed being a homemaker; quilting, baking, canning and freezing food, decorating cakes and gardening. She also loved entering and winning ribbons for her quilts and cakes at the Hillsdale County Fair. Donna was a former member of the Hillsdale Elks Lodge and former den mother for the Cub Scouts.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandy (Mark) Siegel of Hanover and Kathy "K.C." (Richard) Waddell of Santa Anna, California; three grandchildren, Jenna (Justin) Beghtol, Josh (Claude Marie) Chase and Bill Merriman and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, Donna was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Merriman and four brothers, Otto Rumsey, Gerald Rumsey, Donald Rumsey and Raymond Rumsey in infancy.
Memorial services for Donna Ayers will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Rev. Mary Sweet officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Sunset View Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
