Doris Malcolm age 90 of Colon, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the Masonville House in Coldwater.

Doris was born August 29, 1923 in Jones, MI a daughter to the late Lavern & Cora Belle (Bowen) Pipher.

Doris grew up in the Jones area. She graduated from Constantine High School with the Class of 1941. She had made her home in Colon since 1978.

On May 3, 1946 she married Wendell H. Malcolm in Fort Wayne, IN. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2010.

Doris had worked for Continental Can in Three Rivers for 19 years, retiring in 1976, she also worked for 9 years at Colmer Co. in Colon and also for Van Guards in Colon.

She was an active member of the Colon American Legion Auxiliary, life member of the Marcellus VFW #4054, 45 year member of the Three Rivers Eagles #2303, Hastings Moose Chapter 626, and Three Rivers Elks #1248.

She is survived by 2 sons, Robert Lee (Patricia Pipe) Malcolm and Gary Lee (Marilyn) Malcolm all of Coldwater, 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 4 nieces and 4 nephews.

She was preceded in death by a great grandson David Cooper Malcolm, 3 brothers, William W., Russell L. and Bernard B. Pipher.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday September 6, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Doris Malcolm will be Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. from the funeral home with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating. A committal service and burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon. If desired the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Doris to either the Colon American Legion, Community Health Center of Branch County Hospice or the Marcellus VFW. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
