ERCEL M. JULIAN 1931-2015

HILLSDALE - Ercel M. Julian, 84, of Pittsford, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 at MacRitchie North Skilled Nursing Facility in Hillsdale. She was born March 6, 1931 in Hillsdale to Carleton and Lela (Miller) Blackmar. Ercel married Robert "Bob" Julian on March 29, 1949 and he preceded her in death on December 26, 2012.

Ercel graduated from Pittsford High School in 1949 and she received her licensed practical nursing degree from Coldwater Hospital. She was employed as an LPN at Hillsdale Community Health Center for 37 years. Ercel was a member of Pittsford Congregational Church, Pittsford Firemans Flames and she was a volunteer nurse at Kimball Camp for many years. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting; she was most notably known for her crocheted name plaques. Ercel, also known as "Little Mother", was a caregiver to many people throughout her life and she dearly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jo (Don) Dunlap of Osseo; two sons, Larry (Nancy) Julian of Lennon, Michigan and Gary (Kathy) Julian of Mattawan, Michigan; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; sister, Wilma (Merlin) Mowery of Clinton and two brothers, William (Sally) Milligan of Hudson and Robert (VaLinda) Milligan of Osseo.

In addition to her husband, Bob, Ercel was preceded in death by her parents; son, Alan Claude Julian; two grandsons, Shane Allen and Loren C. Julian; sister, Patti Fultz and son-in-law, Jim Boyd.

Funeral services for Ercel Julian will be Monday, October 12, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Pittsford Congregational Church with Rev. Terry Bobzien officiating. Interment will follow at Leonardson Cemetery in Pittsford. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
