HILLSDALE - Florence V. Strong of Hillsdale, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility surrounded by her family and Hospice of Hillsdale County. She was born February 22, 1920 in Spring Arbor, Michigan the daughter of Vern and Vada (Grover) Cook. In 1969, she married Irving C. Strong and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents; six sisters and one brother. She is survived by two sons, Douglas Bauerly and Richard (Jamie) Bauerly all of Hillsdale; three step-sons, Steven Strong of West Palm Beach, FL, Brian Strong of Orlando, FL and Scott Strong of New Haven, IN; nine grandchildren, Nicholas (Krysta) Bauerly, Adam (Rebecca) Bauerly, Abbey VanCamp, Jason (Tara) Bauerly, Lisa Strong, Sarah Focht, Michele Wood, Matthew Strong and Stacie Fredricks; several great-grandchildren and one sister, Elma Zimmerman of Arizona.

Florence spent most of her adult life in Hillsdale County and she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsdale. She retired in 1978 from Hillsdale College after 15 years of service and she enjoyed baking and making afghans for her family and friends.

A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Florence V. Strong will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsdale on Saturday, October 31, 2015 beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Patti Beckman officiating. Interment will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan on Monday, November 2, 2015. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in Hillsdale. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsdale.
