Helen L. (Guy) Steward Obituary
Helen L. Steward, 94, of Jonesville, passed away January 7, 2014 at the Hillsdale Community Health Center. She was born February 15, 1919 to Raymond and Violet (Rumsey) Guy. She married Raymond Steward in May 1939 and he preceded her in death.

Helen attended Jonesville schools. She worked 30 years at Jonesville Paper Tube, then at Fayette Township as treasurer then as assistant clerk. She was a 4H leader, a mentor at Jonesville Elementary, and taught Sunday school for many years. Helen was in Pythian Sisters, Investors club, Happy Seniors and Red Hat Rosey's. She was a member of the Jonesville United Methodist Church.

Besides reading, sewing and crafting, Helen enjoyed watching three generations of her family playing sports. In her later life, she became a cheerleader for the senior section at the Jonesville basketball games, which kept her close enough to the referees to "help" them out. The Jonesville students affectionately knew her as "Grandma Steward". She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; a son Ronald; three brothers: Howard, Donald, Harold and a sister Eleanor Denny.

Surviving is two sons, Jerry and Roger (Colleen) of Jonesville and one daughter Lorene (Walter) Keyes of Jackson, MI; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews and a very special niece Barbara Jean Siegers.

A memorial service for Helen is planned for Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Jonesville at 3:00 pm. Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home in Jonesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Jonesville Athletic department or the United Methodist Church of Jonesville.
