JACK PRATER 1954-2015

HILLSDALE - Jack E. Prater, 61, of Jonesville, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at his home. He was born September 9, 1954 in Hillsdale to James & Clara Belle (Levy) Prater. Clara Belle survives in Jonesville.

Jack was formerly employed at Alphi Manufacturing in Jonesville. He was a graduate of Jonesville High School, Class of 1972. Jack was a member of JABA and the PTA of Jonesville. He was very involved in the summer recreation program at Jonesville and a former summer recreation coach. Jack was also an avid bowler.

Surviving besides his mother, Clara Belle are five children, Mark (Bridget) Prater of Jonesville, Laurie (Jessica Finney) Prater of Adrian, Scott (Samantha) Prater of Grand Rapids, Brad (Cassie Goodband) Prater of Portage and Michelle (Anton) Smith of Baltimore, Maryland; five grandchildren, Naomi, Elena & Meah Prater, Amos Smith and Brooks Goodband-Prater; five siblings, Bob (Pat) Prater of Pickford, MI, John (Sue) Prater of Jonesville, Margaret (Tim) Moorman of Carolton, TX., Betty (Cy) Aldridge of Greenville, MI and Clara (Pat) Bernklau of Jonesville.

Jack was preceded in death by his father and a nephew.

Funeral services for Jack Prater will be Saturday, October 10, 2015, at 2 p.m., at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Don Harkey officiating. Interment will follow at the Moscow Plains Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
