Mr.  James A. "Jim" Loomis Obituary
James A. "Jim" Loomis, 74, of Osseo, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his home. He was born October 17, 1942 in Hillsdale to Arthur and Marian (Castle) Loomis. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Linda Globensky, on December 19, 1964 and they spent 56 years together.

Jim graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1960 and he served his country in the United States Navy during Vietnam. Jim worked for 48 years as a composer for the Hillsdale Daily News. He served on the Hillsdale County Soldiers and Sailors Relief Board for 40 years and was a longtime member of the NRA, Hillsdale Conservation Club and the Hillsdale American Legion Post 53, where he also served as vice commander. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting. He also loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Linda, Jim is survived by two sons, Scott (Danielle) Loomis of Osseo and Tim (Kathy MacDonald) Loomis of Hillsdale; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Fawn) Loomis, Eden (Brent) Barber, Cameron Loomis, Aubrey Loomis, Jason MacDonald, Kristen (Dave) Williams and Stephanie MacDonald; five great-grandchildren, Mikaia Loomis, Madison Barber, Ava Loomis, Carmen Williams and Jayden MacDonald and a sister, Nila (Marty) Husby of Potterville, Michigan.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Jim Loomis will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with J.J. Hodshire officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Cemetery in North Adams. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
