James R. Dunten Obituary

HILLSDALE - James Richard "Jim" Dunten, 85, of Hillsdale, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at his home. He was born August 20, 1930 in Scottdale, Pennsylvania to James and Mae (Woody) Dunten. Jim married Audrey Jeffries on April 19, 1952 and she survives.

Jim graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1951 and he served his country as a United States Army medic during the Korean Conflict. Jim was a journeyman electrician who was formerly employed at Essex Wire in Hillsdale and Midwest Foundry in Coldwater. He was a member of the Jonesville United Methodist Church, Reading American Legion and VFW. He also was a former Boy Scout leader and volunteer for the VFW National Home for Children. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Audrey, Jim is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Randy) Steinert of Berkley, Michigan and Constance Dunten of Hillsdale; two sons, James (Christina) Dunten of Litchfield and Bradley (Connie) Dunten of Jonesville; five grandchildren, Bradley, Coty, Jamee, Sara and Emily and three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Madison and Ellen.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Jean Lapham and William Dunten.

Memorial services for Jim Dunten will be Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Jonesville United Methodist Church with Pastor Jennifer Ward officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
