Jean V. (Stewart) White Obituary
Jean V. White, age 92, of Camden, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Drews Assisted Living in Hillsdale. Jean was born September 30, 1925 in Camden, the daughter of Ben & Pauline (Gilbert) Stewart. On December 21, 1944, she married Delbert White. Together they raised three children.
Jean attended Camden school and graduated as Valedictorian in 1943. She worked as a cashier of Commercial Motor Freight Company office in Fort Wayne, Indiana, as well as secretary for Plymouth Flush Door Company in Hillsdale. For 25 years Jean helped her husband Del at their family run business, The Montgomery Egg Company. Jean then owned and operated Del's Mobile Homes for more than 30 years, displaying her wonderful business sense.
Jean lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; raising a family, gardening, reading, sewing and needlework, canning, traveling, and watching basketball. Cooking was a favorite of Jean's. She made many delicious meals for her family and friends while they were growing up. The holidays were always a special time, gathering and making meals for the entire family. These gatherings allowed her to watch her many grandchildren grow.
Jean is survived by a son, Ned (Lisa) White of North Adams, and daughters, Terri Friedlund (Dave Windle) of Hillsdale and Susan (Rodney) Cortright of Jonesville; nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Gale Stewart, a grandson and a great-grandson.
Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched by Jean are invited to a memorial service held at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Reading, at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, with Pastor Don Lee officiating. Private family interment will take place at the Camden Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Hillsdale County. For online condolences, please visit www.eaglefuneralhomes.com.
