Lyle N. Ames Obituary
Lyle N. Ames, 99, of Hudson, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility in Hillsdale.

He was born on March 26, 1914, Wheatland Township, the son of Paul and Louise (Norris) Ames.

Lyle married Reba D. Hartman on August 30, 1933, in Waterloo, Indiana. They were married 60 years. She preceded him in death on November 4, 1993.

He lived all of his life in the Hudson, Addison area while for the last twenty years he wintered in Zephyrhills, Florida. Lyle was a prominent dairy farmer and milk hauler, having been owner operator of one of the first bulk milk trucks in Michigan.

After retiring he became a cattle dealer for Lakeland Stock Farm in Addison, importing cattle from Canada and Iowa; owner of Clearwater Motel at Devil's Lake and with his brother, Charles owned Good Times Pizza in Zephyrhills.

His great-great grandfather, Clark Ames was one of the first settlers of the Bean Creek area. The family of his grandfather donated the land to build the hospital on U.S. 127 in Hudson.

He had many passions, including fishing, camping, playing cards, working and especially his family.

Lyle is survived by his son, Richard (Sandy) Ames of Hudson, son-in-law, Asa Kelley of Tennessee, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister, Evelyn Reed of Jonesville, one brother, Charles (Ruth) Ames of Hudson, many nieces and nephews and special friend, Dorothy Ryan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter, Marlene Kelley and great-granddaughter, Amanda Brown.

Funeral Services for Lyle will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson with Father Joseph Krupp officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 18, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8P.M. at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility Activity Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
