TRAVERSE CITY - Mary Alice Galton Keillor, Age 88, passed away quietly on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Mary Alice was a long time resident of Romeo, Michigan, Traverse City, Michigan and Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. She was born in Birmingham, Michigan on April 15, 1928 to Charles and Katherine (Bierkamp) Carr. Mary Alice was raised on her family farm in Clarkston, Michigan and graduated from Southern Seminary High School. She went on to attend Junior College in Virginia and then Hillsdale College where she was proud member of the Kapa Kappa Gamma sorority. After college she married Alexander I.M. Galton and they had three children, Janet (Joel) Caskey of Auburn Hills, MI, Alex (Janet) Galton of Waupaca, WI, and Chris (Tracy) Galton of Traverse City. In 2001 Mary Alice married Arthur M. Keillor of Traverse City. Mary Alice loved gardening, golfing, traveling, dancing, crossword Puzzles, going to the theatre, and spending time with her family. She was volunteer at both Lee Memorial Health Park in Ft. Myers, Florida and Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Art and Mary Alice are members of the Myerlee Country Club in Ft. Myers and she loved attending the Friday Night Dinner Dances. Mary Alice founded the Strokers Golf Group in Traverse City, an organization that provided golf for those that have had suffered from a Stroke. Her sense of humor was understated and she was always quick to make friends and start up a conversation.

Mary Alice is survived by her loving husband Arthur Keillor, Sister Carolyn (Carr) Lowery, children Janet (Joel) Caskey, Alex (Janet) Galton, Chris (Tracy) Galton, and Step-Daughter Susan Keillor. She was also blessed to have 11 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and one Great Grand Child on the way.

Mary Alice was preceded in death by her late husband Alexander Galton, her sister Katherine Carr Whitmer, and step-son Bruce Keillor.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. Visitation will also be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, Traverse City. There will be a Celebration of Life at Grace Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Michigan and The Parkinson Foundation.
