Mary Lou (Lampinen) Howard Obituary
Mary Lou Howard was born April 17, 1923, to Arthur and Mary Lampinen in Atlantic Mine, (Copper Country) Michigan. She passed into the loving arms of Jesus on December 25, 2013 at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility.

She attended grade school in Atlantic Mine, MI and the Jeffers High School in Painesdale, MI and graduated from Hillsdale High School. She moved to Jonesville in 1939, where she met her husband, Paul Howard. They were married December 28, 1940 and had one son, Dennis. While residing in Jonesville, she worked at Kizer's IGA for 5 years, Colonial House Coffee Shop for 5 years and the Hillsdale Market House for 13 years. After living in Jonesville for 36 years, she moved to Lake Worth, Florida and lived there for 13 years. She then moved back to the Copper Country where she lived for 22 years before moving back to Jonesville to be with her son and his wife.

Mary Lou loved her church, baking for her family, especially Paanukaku, and her flowers. She took painting classes while in Jonesville and painted many pictures which she shared with her family and friends. Back in the UP, she took Elderhostel classes at Michigan Tech and Finlandia Universities.

Surviving are her son, Dennis (Lois) Howard of Jonesville; her sister, Evelyn Kuopus of Hancock; three grandchildren, Greg Howard of Marshall, Kimberly (Kwame) Robinson of Baltimore, MD and Amy (Christopher) Chopp of Kalamazoo; one great-grandson, Andrew Barrett of Jonesville and several nieces, nephews and cousins in Michigan, Florida, Washington State, Finland and Sweden and an uncle, Douglas Johnson of Chassell. Besides her parents, Mary Lou was also preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Hakala and Elaine Maata; two brothers, Edward and Eino Lampinen and a granddaughter, Lisa (Howard) Spieth.

A memorial service for Mary Lou will be held at Countryside Bible Church, Jonesville, on Friday, January 10th beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor John Lillie officiating. Burial will take place in the spring, at Atlantic Mine Cemetery with a funeral service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Atlantic Mine, Michigan.

Memorial donations can be made to the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility or to Countryside Bible Church.
