Mary Louise (St. Peter) Sarles Obituary
Mary Louise Reitz Sarles, 94, of Gilman, IL., formerly of Hillsdale, Michigan passed away at 7:07 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017 in her childhood home in Gilman. Her memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Gilman with Rev. Rey Treyes officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Hillsdale. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice or for the Masses for Mary Louise.

Mary Louise was born in Gilman on September 7, 1922 to Nelson and Mary L. (Kerns) St. Peter. She was raised in Gilman and graduated in 1940 from Gilman High School.

Mary Louise married Clifford Reitz on November 8, 1941 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Gilman. He died on April 19, 1983. She then married Lester Sarles in 1989. He survives.

Mary Lousie is survived by her son - Michael Reitz of Gilman. Also surviving are her grandson - Brian (Tina) Reitz of Reading, Michigan, granddaughter - Whitney (Jake) Huffman of Fort Myers, FL., three great-grandchildren - Zackary, Brody and Allie, great-great-granddaughter - Bray. Sister - Maureen St. Peter of Gilman and special friend - Pam Montez of Hillsdale, Michigan. Sixteen nieces and nephews, 57 great nieces and nephews, 59 great-great nieces and nephews and 3 great-great-great nieces and nephews.

Mary Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband- Clifford, children - James, Robert and Marianna, three sisters - Marjorie Ann St. Peter, Dorothy Leidheiser, Zita Jean Sweeney and two brothers - Robert and Jerry.

Mary Louise was a member of the Gilman American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of St. Anthony's Parish in Hillsdale.

She was a very prayerful, devout Catholic, a kind, loving and gracious lady who always worried about others.
