Norma J. (Hudson) Riley Obituary
Norma J. Riley, age 77 years of Hudson, passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 25, 2017, at home, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 5, 1939, in Stockbridge, the daughter of Norman G. and Clarissa M. (Stanfield) Hudson.
Norma graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1956, and studied at Jackson Business College for one year. She married Lee T. Riley on November 1, 1958, in Stockbridge. He survives.
Norma retired from Hudson Area Schools in 1999, and in her younger years had worked at D & C Dime Store and Onweller's Pharmacy. She was a member of the Hudson First United Methodist Church, Hudson Center Grange and the Hudson Athletic Booster Club. Norma enjoyed casino trips, antiquing, playing cards, bingo, square dancing, bowling, crocheting, gardening, traveling and two of her fondest pastimes were being an avid Hudson Tiger Fan and spending time with family. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving besides her husband, Lee are their two children, Sheryl Riley and Rick (Angie) Riley all of Hudson, six grandchildren, Joshua (Deanna Gardner) McCabe, Nathan (Alicia) Riley, David Pogoreski, Matthew Pogoreski, Chelsie McCabe and Reece McCabe, one great-grandson, Bryce McCabe, and four nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, James Goodwins, in-laws, Cleo (Ethel) Riley, sister, Elizabeth Rentz and sister-in-law, Delores (Dick) Opsal.
Funeral Services for Norma will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson with Pastor Brad Luck officiating. Cremation will follow and interment of cremains will take place at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Hudson Athletic Booster Club or Hospice of Lenawee.
