Norma Lea Foglesong was given life by her creator and was born on February 5, 1929 the child of Fred and Freda (Noftz) Mixer in Kellerville, Illinois. Norma graduated from Clayton High School and went on to complete the Nursing Program at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. She worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 years at various hospitals in Illinois, Ohio, and Detroit.
On September 15, 1951 she received the gift of a beloved companion in her spouse, Robert "Bob" Foglesong and the blessing of nearly 66 years of marriage. God blessed Norma's life with the gift of three children, Diana Lynn (Rodney) Young, Karen Lea Ratigan, Robert (Ann) Foglesong, Jr., as well as seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Aside from her dedicated spirit in helping others and devotion to family, she was an avid reader and book club member. Her skillful seamstress talents were evident in her home as well as in making dolls for Good Fellows at Christmas time. Norma was also a former scout leader and enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida, and playing golf. On Saturday, August 12, 2107, Norma at the age of 88 years, fell asleep in Jesus. She is survived by her loving husband, children, grand children and many great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lila Mae Newton.
Funeral services for Norma Foglesong will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hillsdale with Pastor Dan Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 16th from at VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
