Parke D. Hayes Obituary
Parke D. Hayes, 67, of Hillsdale, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014, at White Pine Rehabilitation Center in Howell, MI.

He was born April 7, 1946 in Hillsdale to Lawrence L. & Doris (Schroth) Hayes Sr. He was married Feb. 10, 1973, to his wife of 40 years, Vicky (Thompson) Hayes and she survives.

Parke began work during his college years at WCSR Radio and continued serving the community there for 33 years. He was a graduate of Hillsdale High in 1963, Hillsdale College in 1967 and received a Masters Degree from MSU. Parke was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hillsdale. Parke never referred to himself as a politician but a public servant, dedicating his life to numerous civic, city, and county offices throughout his life.

Surviving besides his wife Vicky is a brother, Larry (Sue) Hayes of Hillsdale and also survived by nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and in-laws, Charles & Viola Thompson.

Memorial services for Parke Hayes will be Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church of Hillsdale with Pastor Patti Beckman officiating. Private family interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsdale. The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday morning, January 25th from 10:00 a.m. until services at 11:00, at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, Hillsdale County Agriculture Society, the H.C.I.S.D. Imagination Library the Hillsdale Exchange Club, Endowment Fund, or to Reading Emergency.
